Affinity Chromatography-Based Fractionation of MBL Oligomers Protocol

Mannose-binding lectins (MBLs) are oligomeric proteins of the innate immune system. As a lectin, it plays a crucial role in innate immunity. Natural MBL is a heterogeneous composition of oligomers of several structural units. Recombinant synthesis in mammalian cell lines often results in the production of compositions of small oligomers, the oligomeric structure of MBL consisting of subunits comprising three similar peptide chains, each approximately 30 kDa. Although MBL can form several oligomeric forms, there are data suggesting that dimers and trimers are biologically inactive as opsonins and that at least the tetrameric form is required for complement activation. Creative Biolabs is committed to the development of the future of complement science, contributing leading analytical technologies and extensive experience for customized solutions.

Affinity Chromatography-Based Fractionation of MBL Oligomers Protocol

Studies have revealed that the oligomeric state of MBL is closely related to the binding properties and effector functions of MBL. Here, we describe a simple procedure for the fractionation of MBL oligomers.
