Functional Activity Analysis Protocol of the Mannan-Binding Lectin Pathway

In the innate immune system, mannan-binding lectin (MBL) is a soluble pattern recognition molecule that forms a complex with MBL-associated serine protease (MASP). When foreign objects are recognized, MASP is activated and leads to the initiation of the complement system. Here, Creative Biolabs describes a method to estimate MBL pathway activity by detecting the deposition of complement factors onto microtiter plate wells coated with MBL physiologically relevant ligands.
