Creative Biolabs offers high throughput GPCR screening assay services to evaluate both the binding and functional effects of antibody candidates against a wide variety of GPCR targets. Moreover, to better suit your various research requirements, we offer tailored GPCR cell line development services, with which we can generate stable cell lines that continuously express GPCR proteins at high, homogeneous levels.

Therapeutic Antibodies Targeting GPCRs

GPCRs are cell-surface signal transmission receptor proteins that are characterized by having an extracellular N-terminus, 7-transmembrane spanning domains, and an intracellular C-terminus. They interact with various extracellular ligands and transfer messages to intracellular effector molecules for signaling or cellular physiological changes, thereby influencing biological processes such as homeostasis, proliferation, and migration of cells. Moreover, GPCRs are implicated in a wide variety of diseases, including cancer, infection, and inflammation. These properties have made GPCRs one of the most attractive therapeutic target classes.

Therapeutic antibodies targeting GPCRs have shown many advantages when compared to conventional small molecules, including but not limited to:

  1. Longer duration of action and less inter-patient variability in plasma concentration
  2. Superior specificity and high druggability
  3. Limited central nervous system (CNS) exposure to target peripheral receptors
  4. An alternative approach to some GPCR targets that are poorly tractable to small molecule drug discovery

Magic™ GPCR Stable Cell Line Development Service

Stable cell lines expressing recombinant GPCR targets are commonly used in a variety of research applications, including drug screening, functional assays, antibody immunization boosting, and membrane protein antibody FACS screening. Creative Biolabs has generated and validated more than 200 functional cell lines for both binding and functional testing. Our GPCR cell line development service can be tailored according to your specific requirements. The development process is often divided into several steps:

  1. Gene synthesis and plasmid/virus preparation
  2. Gene transfer efficiency optimization
  3. Transfection/transfection of host cells
  4. Selection of pool or single clones
  5. Validation of cell pool or cell clones
