Oligosaccharides are carbohydrate chains containing 3-10 sugar units. The monosaccharide units are linked together mostly via O-glycosidic bond between an anomeric carbon of a monosaccharide and the other. N-glycosidic linkages can also formed under a certain atmosphere. O-glycosidic linkages may be formed from α 1–1 (trehalose), α 1–4 (maltose), α 1–β 2 (sucrose), β 1–4 (cellobiose) glycosidic bonds. The most abundant oligosaccharides are disaccharides that possess two monosaccharide residues, including sucrose, maltose, lactose, cellobiose and trehalose. Improved synthetic strategies for solution-phase oligosaccharide synthesis as well as the use of automated carbohydrate assembly, have provided more straightforward access to usable quantities of pure oligosaccharides. Oligosaccharides linked to proteins or peptides are involved in a number of biological events. Therefore, much attention is being paid to research on the investigation of the function of oligosaccharides in the field of biochemistry.
At Creative Biolabs, multidisciplinary platform teams work together to address the technical challenges in the synthesis of various carbohydrates. Creative Biolabs owns a range of high-quality oligosaccharides and we offer accurate and effective solutions for researchers who are interested in custom oligosaccharides synthesis.
