What should I do if I have high purity of membrane proteins and low quality or even no crystals after using descaler?)

This situation requires optimization of the detergent. There are two common optimization methods. One is to choose molecules with similar physical properties to the original detergent, because a small change in micelles may improve the lattice stacking and thus the quality of the crystals; the second is to optimize the lattice stacking of detergent-protein molecular complexes by adding some small molecules of detergent.)
