Full-length membrane proteins are important targets in antibody discovery and drug development. However, their hydrophobic transmembrane regions and dependence on the surrounding lipid environment make them difficult to express, isolate, and maintain in a native conformation. MNPs provide a convenient, cell-free alternative to whole-cell antigens and are particularly suitable for challenging multi-pass membrane proteins, including GPCRs, ion channels, transporters, tetraspanins, and Claudin-family proteins.
Our MNP full-length membrane protein products are presented in membrane nanoparticles derived from mammalian cells expressing the target protein. The target remains embedded in a native-like phospholipid bilayer, helping preserve its full-length structure, membrane orientation, extracellular conformational epitopes, and mammalian post-translational modifications.
MNP products are target-enriched membrane particle preparations rather than target proteins purified to homogeneity. Matched control MNPs are therefore recommended for background subtraction and specificity assessment.
