CC motif chemokine ligand 24 (CCL24), also known as eotaxin-2, is a soluble secreted CC chemokine encoded by the CCL24 gene and produced by several stromal and myeloid cell populations. After secretion into the extracellular microenvironment, CCL24 acts as a chemotactic ligand rather than a membrane-embedded receptor and therefore contains no transmembrane segment or intracellular signaling domain. Its principal chemotactic receptor is CCR3, a G protein-coupled receptor highly expressed on eosinophils and also present on several other immune and stromal cell types. Binding of CCL24 to CCR3 activates receptor-dependent intracellular signaling and promotes eosinophil migration toward sites where CCL24 concentrations are elevated. CCL24 can also contribute to activation-related responses in CCR3-expressing cells. Through the formation of extracellular chemokine gradients, locally produced CCL24 participates in the recruitment and positioning of eosinophils and other responsive cells within tissues. Changes in CCL24 production can therefore influence the magnitude and distribution of eosinophilic inflammatory responses in a tissue- and context-dependent manner.
Sequence variation within the CCL24 gene may affect protein expression or ligand-receptor interactions, although the functional consequences of individual variants require experimental validation. CCL24 belongs to the eotaxin family together with CCL11 and CCL26, all of which can promote eosinophil chemotaxis through CCR3. Changes in CCL24 expression have been associated with inflammatory conditions characterized by recruitment or activation of CCR3-expressing cells, making the chemokine useful for studies of chemokine-receptor interactions and leukocyte migration. As a secreted extracellular ligand, CCL24 establishes local concentration gradients and binds CCR3 on target cells, triggering GPCR-mediated intracellular signaling rather than acting as a passive extracellular binding molecule. CCL24-CCR3 signaling can regulate chemotaxis, cytoskeletal responses, calcium mobilization, and other activation-associated processes. Reduced or increased CCL24 availability can consequently alter eosinophil recruitment depending on the biological context, supporting the use of CCL24 as a research target for studies of CC chemokine signaling, eosinophil biology, and inflammatory cell trafficking.

The biological functions of soluble CCL24 chemokine protein are centered on CCR3 engagement, GPCR signaling, and eosinophil-directed chemotaxis:
Creative Biolabs offers purified CCL24 protein samples produced under unified preparation workflows, including full-length CCL24 constructs and isolated receptor-binding domain variants. Truncated domain fragments cannot support complete receptor-engagement behaviors, while full-length constructs suit research focused on chemokine-receptor association and granulocyte chemotaxis observation. All batches receive uniform quality screening. Functional relevant observation may only be carried out with full-length samples under simulated extracellular microenvironment setups. Consistent structural features are preserved across batches to support comparative laboratory analysis across separate test groups. Full-length CCL24 samples retain intact receptor-binding motif conformation after standardized purification, which supports reliable detection of weak and transient ligand-receptor contacts for comparative functional analysis.
