CD276

This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily and is hypothesized to be involved in the control of the T-cell-mediated immunological response. Studies have shown that whereas this gene's transcript is universally expressed in both solid tumors and normal tissues, its protein is only preferentially expressed in tumor tissues. Furthermore, it was discovered that this transcript's 3' UTR has a target site for the microRNA miR29, and that there is an inverse relationship between the production of this protein and miR29 levels, indicating that miR29 may be regulating the expression of this gene product.
