LILRB2

This gene belongs to the family of leukocyte immunoglobulin-like receptors (LIR). The encoded protein belongs to the subfamily B class of LIR receptors, which have two to four extracellular immunoglobulin domains, a transmembrane domain, and two to four cytoplasmic immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motifs (ITIMs). The receptor is found on immune cells, where it interacts with MHC class I molecules on antigen-presenting cells to provide a signal that prevents the initiation of an immune response. To assist focus the immune response and reduce autoreactivity, it is believed to control cytotoxicity and inflammatory reactions.
