This gene encodes a lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) receptor, an integral membrane protein. These receptors are in the superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors. EDG receptors are involved in a variety of biological processes, including proliferation, platelet aggregation, smooth muscle contraction, suppression of neuroblastoma cell differentiation, chemotaxis, and tumor cell invasion. They are used by LPA for cell signaling. Actin nucleation by the ARP-WASP complex and GPCR downstream signaling are two of its related pathways. This gene has G protein-coupled receptor function and phospholipid binding as Gene Ontology (GO) annotations.
