Background CCKBR is a type B gastrin receptor that encoded by CCKBR gene. It belongs to the seven-transmembrane domain β-adrenergic receptor superfamily. There are 3 isoforms of the human CCK-BR protein resulted from alternative splicing. The cholecystokinin B receptor (CCKBR) functions mechanistically as a G-protein coupled receptor. Its endogenous ligands encompass gastrin and cholecystokinin (CCK). These are critical neurogastrointestinal peptides exerting complex regulatory influences within both the brain and the gastrointestinal system. Notably, CCKBR constitutes the predominant subtype among central cholecystokinin receptors. Its defining pharmacological characteristic is a high binding affinity demonstrated towards both sulfated and non-sulfated cholecystokinin peptide analogs.
