CD47

This gene encodes a membrane protein that contributes to the rise in intracellular calcium levels that follow cell attachment to the extracellular matrix. The encoded protein may participate in membrane transport and signal transduction, as well as acting as a receptor for thrombospondin's C-terminal cell binding domain. This gene is widely distributed throughout the body but expresses less strongly in Rh erythrocytes.
