The study investigates how yeast display technology facilitates the discovery of antibodies against membrane proteins. The authors compare two antibody screening methods: cell-based biopanning and FACS using solubilized targets. The two antibody selection methods proved successful in isolating clones that bind to the target. These antibody discovery techniques function as a swifter and more effective alternative to conventional methods which may accelerate therapeutic research for conditions.

Introduction

Membrane proteins control cellular functions and function as vital elements in cancers and neurological and autoimmune diseases. Traditional antibody discovery methods encounter significant difficulties with membrane proteins because their intricate three-dimensional structures and hydrophobic characteristics make them challenging. Yeast display stands as a rapid and high-throughput method for identifying specific antibodies which could selectively target membrane proteins of interest thereby addressing these challenges.
