  • Introduction
  • CCR8 is a member of the beta chemokine receptor family and is predicted to be a seven-transmembrane protein, similar to G protein-coupled receptors. Chemokines and their receptors play a crucial role in the migration of various cell types to inflammatory sites. This receptor is predominantly expressed in the thymus. Ligands such as I-309, thymus activation-regulated cytokine (TARC), and macrophage inflammatory protein-1 beta (MIP-1 beta) have been identified for this receptor. Research suggests its involvement in regulating monocyte chemotaxis and thymic cell apoptosis. More specifically, it may aid in positioning activated T cells at sites of antigenic challenge and within specialized regions of lymphoid tissues. The gene for this receptor is located within the chemokine receptor gene cluster region.
