Doxorubicin Liposome (PEGylated)-fig1

Cellular uptake of Dox-loaded PPLs and TPPLs in HCT116 cells.

This study investigated the effect of mitochondria-targeted liposomes on the efficacy of doxorubicin. Researchers prepared mitochondria-targeted doxorubicin-loaded liposomes (TPPLs) using DSPE-PEG-TPP. Subsequently, the uptake of free doxorubicin, PEGylated doxorubicin liposomes (PPL), and TPPLs in HCT116 cells was evaluated. The results showed that after 1 hour of incubation, the uptake of doxorubicin in PPL and TPPL increased by 1.36-fold and 1.51-fold, respectively, compared to free doxorubicin. This indicated that TPPL exhibited stronger mitochondrial targeting properties. In this study, PEGylated doxorubicin liposomes aided in comparative analysis of the impact of surface modifications on targeting ability.
