Liposomes Phospholipids Lipids

Phosphatidylethanolamine & Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (PE & LPE)

Creative Biolabs proudly offers different PE & LPE for scientific research. We have PE & LPE products that originate from different organs or species, providing a variety of options for the development of liposomes with different functions.

PE (phosphatidylethanolamine) was first isolated from the brain and called “cephalin”, It is the second most abundant phospholipid component in mammalian membranes, especially enriched in the brain (about 45% of total phospholipids) and the inner membranes of mitochondria (about 40% of total phospholipids), and thus play an important role in membranes structure. PE tends to form non-lamellar membrane structures and adjusts membrane curvature in membrane fusion due to its cone-shaped structure like PA. Due to PE asymmetrically distributing the bilayer, the decreased PE content of cardiac myocytes after ischemia would disrupt the membrane and cause cell damage. Besides, PE is also the donor of the ethanolamine moiety and can modify several proteins covalently. Lysophosphatidylethanolamine (LPE) is derived from the partial hydrolysis of PE and removed a fatty acid group. It is a minor component of cell membranes and also participates in cell signaling and enzymatic activation.

Creative Biolabs also offers other kinds of phospholipids including PA & LPA, PC & LPC, PG & LPG, etc. for liposome development. We provide custom lipid synthesis services to meet your requirements. Please feel free to contact us for more information.
