DMPC Liposomes (CAT#: LDLY-0123-LY11)

Description
Liposomes are extensively used to study the interaction of proteins, peptides and other molecules with the surface of a lipid membrane. This product is mainly made of saturated Phosphatidylcholine (PC). PC is the most abundant phospholipid in eukaryotic cell membranes and it can form lipid bilayers. PC also plays a important role in liposome.

FAQs Published Data Customer Reviews Related Sections
  1. What is the appearance of DMPC Liposomes?

DMPC Liposomes are a white translucent liquid.

  2. What buffer are DMPC Liposomes made in?

DMPC Liposomes are made in PBS at pH 7.4.

  3. What effect does freezing have on DMPC Liposomes?

Freezing can form ice crystals that rupture the lipid membrane and alter the size of liposome particles, thus they should never be frozen.

  4. What is the role of DMPC in liposome stability?

DMPC contributes to the structural stability of liposomes due to its saturated nature.

This article investigates the effect of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) on the structural properties of dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine (DMPC) liposome suspensions. The results indicate that when the DMSO concentration reaches 40%, both the gel and rippled gel phase of the DMPC liposomes tend to stabilize, with a slight decrease in the enthalpy change associated with the main transition. In this study, DMPC liposomes serve as a model system for assessing the impact of DMSO on their properties.
