Introduction
Amylases are secreted proteins that hydrolyze 1, 4-alpha-glucoside bonds in oligosaccharides and polysaccharides. There are three types of human α-amylases, AMY1, AMY2A, and AMY2B. There are wo potential N-glycosylation sites (N427 and N476) in their C-terminal region. AMY2B is a pancreatic amylase but it is expressed in various tissues. Diseases associated with human AMY2B include Ichthyosis, Congenital, Autosomal Recessive 10, and Occupational Asthma.
