Creative Biolabs is your trusted partner in contract research and advanced biomarker research. Apart from genomics and proteomics platforms, metabolomics, lipidomics, glycomics, and secretomics are frequently used for biomarker analysis. Creative Biolabs provides fatty-acid binding protein 2 (FABP2) analysis services for worldwide clients to support your research.
FABP2, a low molecular weight (14-15 kDa) cytosolic and water-soluble protein, belongs to the calycin superfamily and FABP family. FABPs are thought to play important roles in the intracellular transport of long-chain fatty acids and their acyl-CoA esters. FABP2 mediates the absorption and intracellular transport of dietary long-chain fatty acids. It binds saturated long-chain fatty acids with a high affinity but binds with a lower affinity to unsaturated long-chain fatty acids. FABP2 may also help maintain energy homeostasis by functioning as a lipid sensor.
On the other hand, FABP2 is rapidly released into the systemic circulation on enterocyte injury and accordingly has been shown to be a useful biomarker for diagnosing acute intestinal ischemia, including necrotizing enterocolitis and nonocclusive mesenteric ischemia.

Human FABP2 is generally measured by commercial sandwich ELISA products which major consist of a matched antibody pair and other materials. The FABP2 protein in samples is captured by the coated antibody. Following extensive washing steps, a detection antibody specific for FABP2 is added. The final color intensity which is proportional to the quantity of bound protein is measurable at 450 nm with the correction wavelength set at 630 nm. Other FABP2 tested services at Creative Biolabs include but not limited to:
Besides, FABP2 analysis could also be achieved by customized nanoparticles (NPs) or quantum dot (QD)-based assays. If you want to order custom analysis services, please feel free to contact us for more information.
