Background

The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) of rhesus macaque is a widely studied set of genes. Which plays a crucial role in experimental allografts of organs and stem cells, and influences rhesus macaque reproduction and numerous biological parameters. The genomic MHC region mainly contains clusters of genes that encode the MHC class I complex and the MHC class II complex. Studies show that the entire region from the MHC class I to the MHC class II of rhesus macaque (Mamu) is 4.72 Mb in length based on the genomic map data. Comparing to the classical HLA-A and HLA-B genes and the non-classical HLA-E, HLA-F, and HLA-G genes of human, the corresponding genes of rhesus macaque are identified in the α, β, κ block and designated Mamu-A, Mamu-B, Mamu-E, Mamu-F, and Mamu-G, respectively.

Rhesus Macaque MHC genotyping services

To identify the complexity of MHC polymorphism, Creative Biolabs developed targeted NGS technologies for some nonhuman species to genotype the polymorphisms of MHC genes. Targeted NGS method using DNA or RNA samples is a feasible, productive platform. Which can generate high-quality MHC allele information from a variety of samples unavailable by other genotyping methods. In addition, we developed a user-friendly computational application that interprets the raw data and reliably exports the final genotyping results in spreadsheet file format.
