The Dby gene, located on the Y chromosome, encodes a deadbox protein that has been shown to act as a source of mH antigens in the mouse. The immunodominant MHC class II–restricted epitope in mice of the H-2k haplotype has recently been determined to lie within residues 479–493 and consists of the following amino acid sequence: REEALHQFRSGRKPI
