CAR engrafted T cell or NK cell may be toxic to normal cells which also express some tumor associated antigens on cell surface, however, this possibility can be evaluated via cytotoxicity analysis. Meanwhile, as an efficient alternative strategy, we can also coexpress CARs with an appropriate suicide gene which can regulate this potential cytotoxicity, in order to kill the cancer cells without influencing the normal ones.
