Antigen Information
Introduction
Bluetongue (BT) virus is a member of genus Orbivirus, Reoviridae family. Twenty-six serotypes are now recognised for this virus. Unlike other arboviruses, BTV lacks a lipid envelope. BTV causes an acute disease with high morbidity and mortality in sheeps, goats, cattle and other domestic animals as well as wild ruminants. Major signs are swelling of the face and tongue, excessive salivation, high fever, and cyanosis of the tongue.
