This specialized serum is derived from donors afflicted with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a group of rare genetic disorders involving the breakdown and loss of cells in the retina. The specimens may contain circulating autoantibodies against retinal proteins and markers of oxidative stress linked to photoreceptor degeneration. It serves as a critical substrate for researchers investigating the systemic immunological component of retinal dystrophies and identifying peripheral markers of ocular disease progression.
