These NK cells are isolated from donors with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus, capturing the innate mediators involved in the selective destruction of pancreatic beta cells. These cells are highly useful for studying the early "innate-to-adaptive" bridge in autoimmunity and the influence of hyperglycemia on NK cell degranulation and interferon-gamma production during the progression of islet inflammation.
