The Daudi cell line is composed of B lymphoblasts isolated from the peripheral blood of a Black,16-year-old, male, Burkitt's Lymphoma patient in 1967. These well-characterized B lymphoblasts have been extensively used in the study of leukemogenesis.

Tumorigenicity is defined the property of a cell to form tumors when inoculated into an immunosuppressed animal model. Generally, test cells and tumor cells as positive control are administered subcutaneously into immunosuppressed nude mice. The number of animals developing tumors are compared with a positive control reference cell line.
