Assay Type: Cell Viability/Cytotoxicity and Antiproliferative Assays
Assay Overview
This assay is to provide NCI-H2122-based In Vitro PI Assay (Cell Viability) to accelerate our client's oncology projects. The assay will be customized according to the specific requirements. Please contact our scientists to discuss more details.
Target Cell Name
NCI-H2122
Target Cell Organism
Human
Target Cell Background
NCI-H2122 [H2122] cells are lymphoblasts isolated in 1989 from a pleural effusion metastasis derived from a 46-year-old female smoker. Use these cells in lung cancer research.
Target Cell Alternative Name
H2122
Related Diseases
Non Small Cell Lung Cancer
Research Area
Oncology
Assay Name
In Vitro PI Assay (Cell Viability)
Assay Description
Propidium iodide (PI) is another dye that can be used to distinguish viable and non-viable cells. PI can only bind with DNA of cells with damaged cell membranes and it cannot enter viable cells. Uptake of PI into cells can be monitored by flow cytometry (FCM) or fluorescence microscopy.
Assay Alternative Names
Propidium Iodide Assay
Assay Type
Cell Viability/Cytotoxicity and Antiproliferative Assays
Assay Type Details
Uncontrolled proliferation is one of the main features of cancer cells. Cell-based in vitro assays are employed to determine whether test molecules possess direct cytotoxic/antiproliferative effects in cancer cells.
