Short Description
For sensitive and specific ABAT staining, this IHC kit offers a complete solution. Its carefully formulated reagents ensure optimal performance and reliable results, even with challenging samples.
Description
ABAT (4-Aminobutyrate aminotransferase) catalyzes the breakdown of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) into succinic semialdehyde. The enzyme is a homodimer of 50 kDa subunits complexed with pyridoxal-5-phosphate and shares over 95% sequence similarity with the pig homolog. GABA is present in about one-third of human synapses. ABAT deficiency can cause psychomotor retardation, hypotonia, hyperreflexia, lethargy, seizures, and EEG abnormalities.
