Short Description
For efficient CTNNA1 staining, deploy this pre-prepared IHC kit, designed with all necessary reagents for a seamless antigen retrieval to coverslip procedure.
Description
Alpha catenin is a vital component of adherens junctions, linking E-cadherin-β-catenin complexes to the actin cytoskeleton. It also recruits additional proteins to form intercellular junctions. There are three forms of alpha catenin in humans: alpha-E, alpha-N, and alpha-T. These isoforms have similar amino-acid sequences but differ in tissue distribution. Alpha-E is found universally, alpha-N is specific to neurons, and alpha-T is primarily present in heart tissue. A reduction in alpha-E-catenin is commonly observed in various cancers, such as those of the breast, colon, stomach, esophagus, bladder, and liver, and is often correlated with tumor differentiation and metastasis.
