Description
Hepatocyte Growth Factor (HGF), derived from a 728-amino acid precursor (pro-HGF), is a potent mitogen for hepatocytes in primary cultures. It is a pleiotropic cytokine with diverse roles, including tissue repair, morphogenesis, inflammation regulation, angiogenesis, tumor progression, immunomodulation of viral infections, and involvement in cardio-metabolic processes. HGF is primarily found on cell surfaces and within the extracellular matrix in its inactive form.
