Research-Grade Metabolic Assay Development
Description
The OXPHOSight™ Citrate Assay Kit measures central carbon metabolism flux, validating drugs that target mitochondrial respiration and metabolic reprogramming in tumors. Direct measurement of citrate levels without separation steps simplifies the assessment of mitochondrial function in tissue lysates. This assay is critical for metabolic disease research, helping to identify therapeutic agents that modulate the TCA cycle.

Background
Citrate is an intermediate in the citric acid cycle formed by the condensation of acetyl-CoA and oxaloacetate. High cytoplasmic citrate levels inhibit glycolysis and stimulate fatty acid synthesis acting as a key metabolic regulator.
