Background
Fumarase (Fumarate Hydratase) is a TCA cycle enzyme that catalyzes the reversible hydration of fumarate to malate. Deficiency in this enzyme leads to severe metabolic encephalopathy and it acts as a tumor suppressor in certain cancers.
