Background
Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) is a 64 kD tumor-associated embryonal antigen produced by the fetal liver, hepatoma, yolk sac, and several germ cell tumors of testicular and ovarian origin. Of the germ cell tumors, only embryonal carcinoma and endodermal sinus tumors stain positive for AFP and not teratomas. The positive results are useful in distinguishing embryonal carcinoma from seminoma. AFP is present in the mononuclear embryonal carcinoma cell and in the intracellular or extracellular hyaline droplets. This antibody stains are positive for alpha-fetoprotein in the cytoplasm of positive cells.

IHC Control Slides
Creative Biolabs control slides are prepared using top quality tissues that have been processed, embedded and sectioned following standard operating procedure. We provide the following antigen (tissue) controls: - Positive control: a section from a tissue known to express the protein of interest. - Negative control: a section from a tissue known not to express the target antigen. - Endogenous tissue background control: a section from the tissue that doesn't have a primary antibody applied.
Tissue Samples
Creative Biolabs also offers biospecimen including formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks, fresh or snap frozen tissue blocks, tissue microarray (TMA) slides. Please contact us to request a customized price quotation.
Tissue Processing Kit
Tissue Fixative Solution (Specified, depends on antigen type and tissue source) Tissue Processing Kit (Includes specialized media for tissue collection, isolation, and dissociation) Tissue Embedding Media Tissue Staining Kit (Optional)
Kit Overview
The IHC detection kit contains all the components needed to detect target protien present in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. Creative Biolabs offers the complete and cusom IHC kit to choose from, giving you the ultimate flexibility in planning your Immunohistochemistry protocol.
Chromogenic IHC Kit
Antigen Retrieval Buffer Washing Buffer Protein Blocking Buffer Anti-AFP IHC Primary Antibody Antibody Diluent Solution HRP/DAB (ABC) IHC Detection Kit* Chromogenic Counterstains# DoubleStain IHC Kit (Optional)& Special Stain Kit (Specified)% Mounting Medium for IHC * A complete kit to detect a Primary Antibody Antibody Diluent Solution using HRP-labeled-streptavidin and a biotinylated secondary antibody. # Chromogenic counterstains are used when the Primary Antibody Antibody Diluent Solution is visualized using HRP or alkaline phospatase combined with DAB, AEC, or similar enzyme substrates. The traditional combination is HRP/DAB with hematoxylin to stain nuclei. Eosin, for cytoplasmic staining, is often used in combination with hematoyxolin. & DoubleStain is designed for user to detect two distinct antigens on human tissue. % Special Stain Kit are used to stain certain cell types, microorganisms, and specific proteins, carbohydrates and metabolites found in the tissue matrix and within cells.
Fluorescent IHC Kit
Antigen Retrieval Buffer Washing Buffer Protein Blocking Buffer Anti-AFP IHC Primary Antibody Antibody Diluent Solution Secondary Antibody, Fluorescent-labeled* Fluorescent Counterstains # DoubleStain IHC Kit (Optional)& Special Stain Kit (Specified)% Mounting Medium for IHC * Fluorescent labels include FITC or R-PE. # Fluorescent counterstains are used when the Primary Antibody Antibody Diluent Solution staining is visualized with a fluorescent dye either directly conjugated to the Primary Antibody Antibody Diluent Solution, or to a secondary antibody. & DoubleStain is designed for user to detect two distinct antigens on human tissue. % Special Stain Kit are used to stain certain cell types, microorganisms, and specific proteins, carbohydrates and metabolites found in the tissue matrix and within cells.
Multiplex IHC Detection Kit
Superior multiplex IHC kit is designed for efficient detection of multiple antigens in a single tissue sample. - Biotin-free nanopolymer-based system for superior multiplex antigen detection - Complete kit includes for sensitive, crisp 2-color development - Preserves precious tissue while reducing reagent and labor costs - Expandable with additional chromogens (sold separately)
IHC Antibody Notes
The anti-AFP antibody included in the kit is extensively tested and validated for immunohistochemistry applications on human or animal tissues using standard detection methods and procedures-resulting in low background signal, high detection sensitivities, and no cross-reactivity issues. Use our directly conjugated primary antibodies to speed up and simplify the IHC protocol as they omit the need for a secondary antibody staining step. Our primary conjugates are recombinantly engineered to provide high specificity and batch-to-batch consistency. If your antibody of choice is not available in a suitable conjugated format, you can Use our antibody conjugation kits.
