Short Decsription
Six-reagent kit for displaying carboxylated and sulfated groups of acidic mucopolysaccharides and proteoglycans. This method can be used in conjunction with the PAS method; in this way, glycogen and neutral mucopolysaccharides will be stained differently to a typical magenta color.
Description
The colloidal iron kit is used to display the carboxylated and sulfated groups of acid mucins and proteoglycans. The method is based on the principle of binding positively charged iron ions (Fe3+) to the negatively charged ends of acidic mucopolysaccharides and proteoglycans.
