What is Endothelial Cell Immunophenotyping?

ECs are vital for vascular homeostasis, and their dysfunction plays a central role in many diseases. Immunophenotyping offers a powerful way to characterize these cells by their unique protein markers, providing insight into their functional state and heterogeneity. Recent research, for example, has highlighted how differential marker expression on ECs—such as CD34—impacts immune cell interactions, underscoring the critical need for precise immunophenotyping. Our service addresses this need by providing a detailed, multi-parametric analysis of EC populations to advance your research.

Our Comprehensive Immunophenotyping Solutions

Our service is built on a foundation of cutting-edge technology and a deep understanding of vascular biology. We offer a comprehensive suite of solutions tailored to your specific research needs:

Advanced Flow Cytometry

Our high-speed, multi-color flow cytometry allows us to analyze thousands of cells per second, generating quantitative data on a vast panel of EC-specific markers. This precision in analysis leads to the accurate identification of EC subsets.

High-Resolution Imaging

We employ advanced immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) techniques for an in-depth, spatial understanding of EC phenotype within tissue sections. This enables visualization of marker expression in situ, offering crucial context for cell-cell interactions and tissue architecture.

Custom Marker Panels

Our scientific team collaborates closely with you to design custom antibody panels. These panels target the specific markers relevant to your study, whether you're investigating angiogenesis in tumors (e.g., CD31, CD105, VEGFR2), inflammation (e.g., VCAM-1, ICAM-1), or vascular diseases.

A study on human endothelial cells (HUVECs and ECFCs) found that the common marker CD34 indicates more than just cell identity. Cells were separated into CD34high and CD34low subpopulations. CD34high cells were less proliferative but secreted higher levels of the immunomodulatory cytokines IL-33 and Angiopoietin 2. Furthermore, when co-cultured with PBMCs, these cells specifically promoted the proliferation of regulatory T lymphocytes (Tregs). This research suggests that CD34 expression is a potential indicator of an anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory state in endothelial cells.
