Product Overview
I-O™ CFDA-SE is a fluorescent dye used to stain and label cells to track their division. CFSE is able to passively diffuse into cells. Inside the cell, its acetate groups are cleaved by intracellular esterases, and the molecules are converted to fluorescent esters that is impermeant to the cell membrane. Once the dye has been incorporated within the cell, it is not transferred to adjacent cells and fluorescent CFSE can be retained within the cell for an extremely long period. Therefore, it is commonly used for in vitro and in vivo labeling of cells to determine whether or not a cell is proliferating.
