Pan dendritic cells, also known as "plasmacytoid dendritic cells" or "pDCs," are a subset of dendritic cells that play a crucial role in orchestrating the immune response. These cells are characterized by their ability to produce large amounts of type I interferons in response to viral infections, which helps to activate other immune cells and enhance the antiviral immune response. Pan dendritic cells are typically found in the blood and lymphoid organs, where they serve as key players in both innate and adaptive immunity. They are involved in the detection of viral pathogens, the activation of natural killer cells, and the priming of T cells to mount an effective immune response.
