Description
SD rat bone marrow cells are mesenchymal stem cells that are derived from the bone marrow of Sprague Dawley (SD) rats. These cells have the ability to differentiate into various cell types, such as bone, cartilage, and fat cells, making them valuable for research and potential therapeutic applications.
Species character
The Sprague Dawley rat is one of the two most widely-used outbred rat strains in biomedical research, including oncology, neurobiology, toxicology, pharmacology, aging, metabolism/nutrition, and neurobiology.
Background
BMCs have multiple utility for transplantation as they support stem and progenitor cells and may differentiate into a number of cell types. BMCs including MSCs and HSCs have a high potential for differentiation into liver cells.

The cell line has been screened using the membrane filtration testing methods to confirm the absence of aerobic, anaerobic and fungi microorganisms.

Quality Control
Cultures are screened for the presence of bacteries, yeast, fungi and mycoplasma (DNA amplification). Growth media are also certified based on U.S. Public Health Service Guidelines.
Storage
Lyophilized cells should be stored in a liquid nitrogen tank (-150°C~-190°C). After thawing, cells should be immediately transferred to the appropriate culture medium and maintained under recommended culture conditions.
Handling Notes
Frozen cells should be thawed immediately upon receipt and grown according to handling procedure to ensure cell viability and proper assay performance.
Note: Do not freeze the cells upon receipt as it may result in irreversible damage to the cell line.
