Assay Overview
This assay is to provide K562-based In Vitro ATP Assay (Cell Viability) to accelerate our client's oncology projects. The assay will be customized according to the specific requirements. Please contact our scientists to discuss more details.
Target Cell Name
K562
Target Cell Organism
Human
Target Cell Background
K562 cells are of the erythroleukemia type, and the cell line is derived from a 53-year-old female chronic myelogenous leukemia patient in blast crisis. The cells are non-adherent and rounded, are positive for the bcr:abl fusion gene, and bear some proteomic resemblance to both undifferentiated granulocytes and erythrocytes.
Target Cell Alternative Name
K-562
Related Diseases
Chronic Myeloid Leukemia; CML
Research Area
Oncology
Assay Name
In Vitro ATP Assay (Cell Viability)
Short Description
K562-cell based In Vitro ATP Assay (Cell Viability)
Assay Description
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) assay is another widely used cell viability assay. When the cancer cells undergo apoptosis or necrosis upon treatment with a compound, cellular ATP content decreases and it can be quantified by colorimetric, fluorometric or luminometric way. The latest bioluminescence assays measure cellular ATP content using the enzyme luciferase which is more sensitive and reproducible when determining cell viability compared to conventional assays.
Assay Alternative Names
Adenosine Triphosphate Assay
Assay Type
Cell Viability/Cytotoxicity and Antiproliferative Assays
Assay Type Details
Uncontrolled proliferation is one of the main features of cancer cells. Cell-based in vitro assays are employed to determine whether test molecules possess direct cytotoxic/antiproliferative effects in cancer cells.
Assay Subtype
Cell Viability Assay
Assay MOA
Cell-based Viability Assays Based on Cellular Enzymes and Proteins
