This IHC kit offers a complete solution for APOL1 staining, providing all necessary reagents in a ready-to-use format, along with a simplified protocol and optimized reagents for efficient and reliable results.
Description
Human apolipoprotein L1 (APOL1) is a minor component of plasma high-density lipoprotein (HDL) particles and interacts with apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1). The ApoL protein family is primarily involved in lipid transport and metabolism. APOL1 plays a role in innate immunity against Trypanosoma parasites by lysing the parasite upon activation, thereby protecting humans from infection. Genetic variants of APOL1, common in individuals of African ancestry, are linked to chronic kidney diseases such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS), HIV-associated nephropathy (HIVAN), and hypertensive nephropathy. APOL1 shares structural and functional similarities with Bcl-2 family proteins and may be involved in apoptosis and autophagy. Notably, APOL1 is found only in humans and a few other primates; it is absent in mice.

Creative Biolabs control slides are prepared using top quality tissues that have been processed, embedded and sectioned following standard operating procedure. We provide the following antigen (tissue) controls: - Positive control: a section from a tissue known to express the protein of interest. - Negative control: a section from a tissue known not to express the target antigen. - Endogenous tissue background control: a section from the tissue that doesn't have a primary antibody applied.
Tissue Samples
Creative Biolabs also offers biospecimen including formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks, fresh or snap frozen tissue blocks, tissue microarray (TMA) slides. Please contact us to request a customized price quotation.
