Description
Desmocollin 2 (DSC2) is a member of the cadherin superfamily and a key component of desmosomes, which are structures that mediate cell-cell adhesion. DSC2 is essential for maintaining cell integrity in tissues such as cardiac and epithelial cells. Mutations in DSC2 are associated with arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia-11, a condition that leads to heart rhythm abnormalities.
