FTL (Ferritin Light Chain) is a protein that stores and delivers iron in a non-toxic, bioavailable form. It plays a crucial role in iron homeostasis by facilitating iron uptake and distribution to cells. Mutations in FTL lead to hereditary hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome and neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation. FTL's importance in preventing iron overload and maintaining cellular function makes it a key protein in iron regulation.

To ensure the preservation of their functional properties, all reagents within this kit must be maintained at a temperature between 2°C and 8°C. Under these storage conditions, the kit will retain its effectiveness for a period of 6 to 12 months following receipt.
