Short Decsription
Turbidimetric LAL assay is a quantitative, kinetic assay for the detection of gram-negative bacterial endotoxin.
Description
Turbidimetric LAL assay is a quantitative, kinetic assay for the detection of gram-negative bacterial endotoxin.
Features
Endotoxin-specific reagent avoids false positive results from (1→3)-β-D-glucan; Dual-purpose reagent can perform either a gel clot or kinetic turbidimetric assay; Due to its high sensitivity, chances of interference are reduced.
Applications
Endotoxin detection
Molecular Mechanism of Action
LAL test relys on factor C coagulation cascade found in horseshoe crabs' blood. The combination of endotoxin and zymogen factor C initiate the protease cascade. Next, the activated factor C goes onto activate factor B, which converts the proclotting enzyme to the clotting enzyme. Lastly, two peptide bonds in coagulogen are catalytically cleaved to form coagulin gel.
Target
Endotoxin
Detection Method
Turbidimetric
Method Type
Lyophilized amebocyte lysate (LAL)
