Description
Rats are the standard rodent species for toxicology and DMPK studies. The Vesitra™ Rat MDR1 cell line provides a high-fidelity in vitro platform to determine whether a drug candidate is a substrate or inhibitor of rat P-glycoprotein, facilitating the accurate interpretation of rat bioavailability and CNS exposure data.

Rat Mdr1 (Mdr1a/1b) expresses the rat ortholog of human P-gp. Rats are standard models for safety pharmacology and toxicity profiling. Assessing drug interactions specifically with rat Mdr1 in vitro helps researchers decipher unexpected biliary or intestinal clearance patterns observed during in vivo rat studies, preventing species-specific differences from confounding preclinical data.

Frozen cells should be stored in a liquid nitrogen tank (-150°C~-190°C). Once reconstituted, the cells may be used for up to five days if properly stored at 2°C - 8°C in the buffer provided.
Handling Notes
Frozen cells should be thawed immediately upon receipt and grown according to handling procedure to ensure cell viability and proper assay performance.
Note: Do not freeze the cells upon receipt as it may result in irreversible damage to the cell line.
