Description
CD22, also known as Siglec-2 or BL-CAM, is a B-cell-restricted, 130-140 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the immunoglobulin gene superfamily. CD22 is developmentally regulated and functions as an inhibitory receptor for B-cell receptor (BCR) signaling. It binds preferentially to alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid and mediates B-cell interactions, playing a key role in activation and differentiation of B-cells.
