Description
Human CD19+ B cells are a type of white blood cell that express the CD19 protein on their cell surface. These cells play a crucial role in the immune system by producing antibodies, which are proteins that help the body fight off infections and other foreign invaders. CD19+ B cells are important for the adaptive immune response and can differentiate into plasma cells, which produce and release antibodies, as well as memory B cells, which can provide long-lasting immunity to specific pathogens. Dysregulation of CD19+ B cells has been implicated in various autoimmune diseases and immunodeficiencies.
Background
B cells, also known as B lymphocytes, are a type of white blood cell of the lymphocyte subtype. They function in the humoral immunity component of the adaptive immune system. These cells develop within germinal centers of the secondary lymphoid organs. Memory B cells circulate in the blood stream in a quiescent state, sometimes for decades.
