Background

Plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDCs) are a specialized subset of dendritic cells that play a key role in the innate immune response to viral infections. pDCs are known for their ability to produce large amounts of type I interferons, such as interferon-alpha, in response to viral stimuli.
