CD8⁺//CD45RA⁺ naïve T cells, also known as naïve cytotoxic T cells, are a subset of T cells in the immune system that have not been exposed to antigens and are in a resting state. These cells express the glycoprotein CD8 on their cell surface, which allows them to recognize and bind to antigens presented by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I molecules on infected or abnormal cells. Naïve CD8⁺//CD45RA⁺ T cells play a critical role in the adaptive immune response by providing a pool of antigen-specific cytotoxic T cells that can respond rapidly to pathogens and provide long-lasting immunity.
