GlycoErase™ PRKAB1 Knockout CHO-K1 Cell Line (CAT#: GLJF-0825-JF356)

Datasheet
SizeQtyAdd To Basket
1 M cells/vial*2

Description GlycoErase™ PRKAB1 knockout CHO-K1 cell line is a CHO-K1 model in which PRKAB1, the β regulatory subunit of AMPK, has been removed. PRKAB1 influences AMPK holoenzyme assembly, myristoylation-/phosphorylation-dependent localization, and allosteric activity. This knockout provides a tractable platform to analyze AMPK complex architecture, subunit-specific regulation, and metabolic stress responses for drug discovery.

Handling Notes Upon receipt, this product must be immediately transferred from dry ice to liquid nitrogen (-150°C to -190°C) and stored in a liquid nitrogen tank. Cell viability is critically dependent on proper handling. We cannot guarantee viability if these instructions are not strictly adhered to.
Product Disclaimer This product is provided for research only, not suitable for human or animal use. Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous.
Target PRKAB1
Full Name Protein Kinase Amp-Activated Non-Catalytic Subunit Beta 1
Alternative Name AMPK; HAMPKb
Location 12q24.23
Gene ID 5564
Summary The protein encoded by this gene is a regulatory subunit of the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK). AMPK is a heterotrimer consisting of an alpha catalytic subunit, and non-catalytic beta and gamma subunits. AMPK is an important energy-sensing enzyme that monitors cellular energy status. In response to cellular metabolic stresses, AMPK is activated, and thus phosphorylates and inactivates acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) and beta-hydroxy beta-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMGCR), key enzymes involved in regulating de novo biosynthesis of fatty acid and cholesterol. This subunit may be a positive regulator of AMPK activity. The myristoylation and phosphorylation of this subunit have been shown to affect the enzyme activity and cellular localization of AMPK. This subunit may also serve as an adaptor molecule mediating the association of the AMPK complex.
