| Description | GlycoErase™ TPI1 knockout HEK293 cell line is a HEK293 model without TPI1 expression. TPI1 encodes triosephosphate isomerase, catalyzing the reversible interconversion of glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. Deficiency causes TPI deficiency, a rare metabolic disorder. This knockout provides a human cellular model to investigate glycolytic control, redox and energy balance, and rare enzymopathies, supporting metabolic and disease-focused research. |

Due to the inherent limitations of infectious agent testing, investigators must exercise extreme caution when handling cells provided by Creative Biolabs, treating all cells as potentially biohazardous. |
| Target | TPI1 |
| Full Name | Triosephosphate Isomerase 1 |
| Alternative Name | TIM; TPI; TPID; HEL-S-49 |
| Location | 12p13.31 |
| Gene ID | 7167 |
| Summary | This gene produces an enzyme that catalyzes the reversible interconversion of glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate in glycolysis and gluconeogenesis. It is a homodimer, and mutations lead to triosephosphate isomerase deficiency. Pseudogenes occur on chromosomes 1, 4, 6, and 7, and alternative splicing yields multiple variants. |
